Caterpillar dermatitis of the palm associated with osteitis of finger bones

A 3-year-old boy during a picnic collected caterpillars of Macrothylasia rubi. He developed dermatitis and was generally ill during some days. Edema developed on the affected hand and reduced the mobility. Osteitis developed corresponding to all falangeal bones on his right hand. The changes disappeared following immobilisation of the severely affected hand.
