    Summary

    Headaches are common after mild traumatic brain injury (mTBI) and can persist. Effective management of posttraumatic headaches involves education, medication, and potentially multimodal therapies.

    Background:

    • Headaches are a frequent complaint following concussion or mild traumatic brain injury (mTBI).
    • The underlying pathophysiologic changes post-injury contribute significantly to the development of posttraumatic headaches (PTH).
    • PTH often mimics migraine or tension-type headache presentations and is notable for its persistence compared to other injury-related pain.

    Purpose of the Study:

    • To review the commonality and characteristics of posttraumatic headaches.
    • To discuss factors influencing PTH, such as pre-existing conditions.
