Perioperative lumbar drain utilization in transsphenoidal pituitary resection

Lumbar drains (LDs) did not significantly reduce cerebrospinal fluid leaks after pituitary macroadenoma resection but did increase hospital stays. While generally safe, LDs may cause headaches and discomfort.
