    Summary

    Osteogenic sarcoma can rarely spread to lymph nodes, causing ossification visible on X-rays. Early detection via lymphography may improve treatment for this uncommon metastatic complication.

    Background:

    • Osteogenic sarcoma is a primary bone cancer.
    • Lymph node involvement is a common route of metastasis in many cancers.
    • Radiographic detection of lymph node ossification is rare.

    Observation:

    • Two cases of osteogenic sarcoma with lymph node metastases showing ossification on plain films are presented.
    • Ossification was visible on initial presentation in one patient and after six months in another.
    • The radiographic pattern of ossified lymph node metastases was similar in both patients.

    Findings:

    • Deposition of metastatic osteoid tissue in lymph nodes, leading to visible ossification on plain films, is an uncommon complication of osteogenic sarcoma.
    • This complication is likely associated with the osteoblastic subtype of osteogenic sarcoma.
    • The radiographic appearance suggests a specific pattern of metastatic spread.

    Implications:

    • Lymph node ossification in osteogenic sarcoma is a rare but identifiable radiologic finding.
    • Lymphography may aid in the early detection of such metastases.
    • Earlier detection could potentially influence treatment planning and patient outcomes.
