Electrophysiologic study of spraymen exposed to insecticide Lambda-cyhalothrin

Lambda-cyhalothrin, an insecticide, may cause temporary, subclinical nerve changes in humans. Electrophysiologic studies showed mild peripheral nerve conduction alterations in some spraymen after exposure.

- Facial nerve conduction, blink response, repetitive stimulation, and evoked potentials were normal in all subjects.
- Six subjects exhibited mild changes in peripheral nerve conduction parameters.
- Mean nerve conduction values across all subjects remained within normal limits.
Conclusions:
- Lambda-cyhalothrin may induce transient, subclinical electrophysiologic changes in peripheral nerves, particularly in the upper limbs.
- These changes might represent a localized toxic effect.
- Further research is warranted to fully understand the neurotoxic potential.
