Summary

Many women undergoing prenatal testing do not make fully informed decisions about chromosomal microarray (CMA) testing, despite desiring more information. Improving genetic counseling is key to enhancing informed decision-making for prenatal CMA.

  • A questionnaire adapted from a validated three-dimensional measure of informed decision-making (knowledgeable, value-consistent, deliberated) was used.
  • Qualitative analysis of open-ended responses explored factors influencing participants' decisions.
  • 106 participants completed the questionnaire, with 59 providing qualitative data.

  • Only 49% of participants made an informed decision, meeting all three criteria.
