    Background:

    • Rosacea is a chronic inflammatory skin condition affecting the face.
    • Current treatments for rosacea have limitations and varying efficacy.

    Purpose of the Study:

    • To evaluate the efficacy and safety of 0.75% metronidazole gel for rosacea treatment.
    • To compare metronidazole gel with a vehicle control in a split-face trial.

    Main Methods:

    • A randomized, split-face, double-blind, paired-comparison trial.
    • Forty patients with rosacea applied 0.75% metronidazole gel or vehicle twice daily.
    • Evaluated reduction in papules, pustules, erythema, and telangiectasia over nine weeks.

    • It demonstrates superior efficacy compared to vehicle alone in reducing inflammatory lesions.
    • The treatment is well-tolerated, with no significant systemic adverse effects observed.
