A probe in the connection between inflammation, cognition and suicide

- CRP levels correlated positively with age, BMI, IL-6, current physical pain, and a history of suicide attempts.
- Suicidal ideation severity did not significantly correlate with CRP or IL-6.
- Suicidal ideation severity was associated with female sex, anxiety disorders, current physical pain, past suicide attempts, and delay discounting.
Conclusions:
- Increased inflammation does not appear to be associated with acute suicidal risk.
- Inflammation may represent a trait linked to the history of suicidal behavior rather than immediate crisis.
