    Summary

    This study shows that using a CO2 laser for abdominal myomectomy effectively treats menorrhagia and infertility. The procedure led to normal menstrual patterns and improved pregnancy success rates in patients with uterine fibroids.

    Background:

    • Menorrhagia and infertility are often caused by uterine fibroids (myomata).

    Purpose of the Study:

    • To assess the effectiveness of a hand-held CO2 laser with microsurgical principles for abdominal myomectomy.
    • To evaluate the impact of this technique on menstrual patterns and fertility in women with uterine fibroids.

    • Seventeen patients with submucous and intracavitary myomata underwent abdominal myomectomy using a CO2 laser.
    • Hysterosalpingography was used for diagnosis prior to the procedure.
