Summary

Genetic variations in the RETN gene, specifically rs3745367, are linked to atopic dermatitis (AD) in an age and gender-specific manner. Lower serum resistin levels were also observed in AD patients, suggesting its role in the inflammatory skin condition.

Background:

  • Atopic dermatitis (AD) is a chronic inflammatory skin disease with impaired barrier function.
  • Resistin, an adipokine involved in inflammation, has a poorly understood role in AD.

  • To examine the association of RETN gene polymorphisms (rs3745367 and rs3219177) with AD.
  • To explore the relationship between serum resistin levels and AD.
