Abstract:
Prior to the mid-1970s, few practitioners employed arthroscopic instruments for either diagnostic or surgical purposes. Today, arthroscopy enjoys acceptance and popularity for the diagnosis and therapeutic management of arthropathy. This article outlines the development of arthroscopy and reviews the clinical applications of the technique.
