Background:

  • Amyotrophic choreo-acanthocytosis (ACA) is a rare neurodegenerative disorder.
  • Caudate nuclei atrophy is a known feature in ACA.

Purpose of the Study:

  • To evaluate CT findings in ACA patients.
  • To compare CT measurements with those in Huntington's chorea.

Main Methods:

  • Computed tomography (CT) scans were analyzed in five ACA patients.
  • Bicaudate diameter, bicaudate index, and frontal horn/bicaudate ratio (FH/CC) were measured.

Main Results:

  • CT findings confirmed caudate nuclei atrophy in ACA patients.
  • CT measurements in ACA did not differ significantly from Huntington's chorea.
