The Guidezilla guide extension catheter effectively supports complex transradial interventions (TRI) in Chinese patients. This device achieved 100% technical success and 94% procedural success in challenging coronary artery cases.
Area of Science:
- Cardiovascular Interventions
- Interventional Cardiology
- Medical Devices
Background:
- Transradial intervention (TRI) complexity is increased by anatomic variations, calcified, tortuous, and angulated lesions.
- The Guidezilla mother-and-child catheter offers enhanced support for complex interventions.
- Limited published data exists on the use of the Guidezilla in TRI, particularly in Chinese populations.
Purpose of the Study:
- To investigate the efficacy and safety of the Guidezilla guide extension catheter in complex coronary interventions.
- To evaluate the performance of Guidezilla in facilitating transradial interventions in Chinese patients.
Main Methods:
- Retrospective collection of clinical characteristics, angiographic details, and in-hospital outcomes for 32 Chinese patients undergoing TRI between June 2015 and August 2017.
- Analysis of patient demographics, lesion complexity (Type B/C, tortuous, angulated), target vessels (RCA, LAD), and procedural outcomes with Guidezilla use.
Main Results:
- The study included 32 patients (81% male, mean age 59.44 years) with complex coronary lesions (53% Type C, 41% tortuous, 22% angulated).
- Technique success was 100%, and procedural success was 94% using the Guidezilla catheter.
- Mean stent diameter was 2.97 mm, length 27.19 mm, with a mean Guidezilla intubation depth of 7.66 cm into the target vessel.
Conclusions:
- The Guidezilla catheter extension safely and successfully facilitated transradial interventions in complex coronary artery lesions.
- This device proves beneficial for interventionalists performing challenging procedures, enhancing support and success rates.
