Summary

Circumscribed palmar hypokeratosis (CPH) is a benign skin condition causing localized thinning of the stratum corneum. This case report details a patient with CPH on the palm unresponsive to topical corticosteroid treatment.

Background:

Circumscribed palmar hypokeratosis (CPH) is a rare, benign dermatologic condition.
It is histopathologically defined by focal thinning of the stratum corneum.

Observation:

A 52-year-old woman presented with an asymptomatic, pink, depressed papule on her right palm.
The lesion's appearance was consistent with CPH.

Findings:

The patient's CPH lesion did not respond to a standard treatment regimen of clobetasol 0.05% applied topically twice daily.
This highlights a potential treatment-resistant presentation of CPH.

Implications:

Further research into alternative or combination therapies for CPH may be warranted.
Understanding treatment resistance in CPH can guide clinical management and patient expectations.
