    Background:

    Purpose of the Study:

    • To investigate the association between tooth length and three-dimensional mandibular morphology in a healthy Japanese population.
    • To analyze how crown height and root length relate to specific mandibular measurements.

    Main Methods:

    • 181 Japanese adults underwent cone-beam computed tomography (CBCT) scans.
    • Tooth dimensions (crown height, root length) and mandibular morphology parameters were measured.
    • Principal component (PC) analysis and stepwise multiple regression were employed to analyze the data.

    Main Results:

    • Overall tooth length (PC1) showed a positive association with the CD-GO mandibular measurement.
    • Root length versus crown height (PC2) correlated with RGO-LGO (positive) and GO-GN, RCP-LCP, gonial angle (negative).
    • Sex influenced tooth proportions, with females showing associations with PC3 (posterior vs. anterior tooth length).

    Conclusions:

    • CBCT imaging and PC analysis revealed significant correlations between tooth length and mandibular morphology.
    • The findings partially support the concept that larger teeth are associated with larger jaw structures in modern humans.
