Abstract:
The melting pressure and the specific volume of human blood was measured up to pressures of 1000 bar or more. The melting pressure curve has a slope of -138 bar K-1. The compressibility of blood is nearly twice the value of blood serum. After application of high pressure the blood exhibits some haemolysis most probably due to the effect of the steel surface of the autoclave.
