  • Understanding its anatomy is crucial for diagnosing and treating inner ear disorders.

Purpose of the Study:

  • To investigate the detailed anatomical structure of the human cochlear aqueduct (CA) using micro-computed tomography (CT).
  • To compare CA morphology in specimens with high jugular bulb (HJB) and normal jugular bulb configurations.

Main Methods:

  • Micro-CT scanning of 30 human temporal bone specimens with 18-µm-thick slices.
  • Measurement of CA length, internal and external aperture diameters, and narrowest width.
  • Comparison of CA dimensions between HJB and normal specimens.

Main Results:

  • Micro-CT provided clear visualization of CA anatomy, localization, and surrounding relationships.
  • Measured CA dimensions: length (12.31 mm), internal aperture (465 µm), external aperture (2.88 mm), narrowest diameter (601 µm).
