Purpose of the Study:

  • To investigate whether short-term auditory contexts influence AP judgments on a rapid timescale.
  • To determine if context effects on AP categorization can fluctuate from moment to moment.

Main Methods:

  • Experiment 1: Participants judged the intonation of a secondary instrument in a duet, with the lead instrument's intonation manipulated.
  • Experiment 2: Participants judged the intonation of a target note following an antecedent context melody with varying intonation.
