Objective:
To investigate the potential role of Long non-coding RNA (lncRNA) FER1L4 in the diagnosis and prognostic assessment of osteosarcoma.
Patients And Methods:
LncRNA FER1L4 expression in osteosarcoma samples was detected by real-time PCR. The Kaplan-Meier method was used to analyze the relationship between lncRNA FER1L4 expression and the survival time of patients.
Results:
LncRNA FER1L4 expression was decreased in osteosarcoma samples. LncRNA FER1L4 was not related to the gender and age of patients, but was significantly associated with disease stage, metastasis, and tumor differentiation.
Conclusions:
Low-expression of lncRNA FER1L4 might be a prognostic marker in osteosarcoma.

What is Gene Expression?
Gene expression is the process in which DNA directs the synthesis of functional products, that is, proteins. Cells can regulate gene expression at various stages. It allows organisms to generate different cell types and enables cells to adapt to internal and external factors.
Genetic Information Flows from DNA to RNA to Protein
A gene is a stretch of DNA that serves as the blueprint for functional RNAs and proteins. Since DNA is made up of nucleotides and proteins consist of amino...
