The enteral drug administration involves three primary routes: oral, sublingual, and buccal. Oral ingestion is the most prevalent, safe, economical, and convenient method for drug administration. However, it has certain drawbacks, including limited absorption due to the drug's low water solubility or poor membrane permeability, possible emesis from GI mucosa irritation, destruction of drugs by digestive enzymes or low gastric pH, and irregular absorption along with food or other drugs.

Summary

This study introduces a new logistics model, the distance-constrained and capacitated VRP with split deliveries by order (DCVRPSDO), to minimize vehicles and travel costs. An adaptive tabu search algorithm efficiently solves this complex vehicle routing problem.

The vehicle routing problem (VRP) is crucial for logistics distribution efficiency.
Classical VRP models often assume indivisible customer demand, limiting real-world applicability.
Reducing logistics costs requires addressing constraints like distance and capacity, alongside demand divisibility.

Purpose of the Study:

To introduce and model a new VRP variant: the distance-constrained and capacitated VRP with split deliveries by order (DCVRPSDO).
To develop a dual-objective mathematical programming model minimizing vehicle count and travel costs.
To design an efficient algorithm for solving the novel DCVRPSDO.

Main Methods:

Formulation of a double objective programming model for DCVRPSDO.
Incorporation of constraints including distance limits, capacity, single depot, and split deliveries by order.
Development of an adaptive tabu search algorithm (ATSA) incorporating discrete split deliveries and multi-neighborhood structures.
