Background:

  • Thyroid hormones are critical regulators of metabolism, influencing lipid and glucose homeostasis and adipogenesis.

Purpose of the Study:

  • To investigate and compare thyroid function in individuals diagnosed with HS against healthy controls (HCs).
  • To explore potential correlations between HS and thyroid dysfunction, particularly hyperthyroidism.

Main Methods:

  • A retrospective, comparative cross-sectional study design was employed.
  • Data collection involved analyzing blood samples for thyroid function markers and utilizing self-reported information via questionnaires.
