This study presents a novel stretchable photodetector using perovskite microwires and graphene on a VHB substrate. The device maintains high responsivity and fast photoresponse even under significant strain, demonstrating its potential for flexible electronics.
Area of Science:
- Materials Science
- Optoelectronics
- Nanotechnology
Background:
- Development of flexible and stretchable photodetectors is crucial for advanced electronic applications.
- Perovskite materials offer excellent optoelectronic properties but often lack mechanical stability.
- Graphene's unique electronic properties can enhance charge transport in optoelectronic devices.
Purpose of the Study:
- To fabricate a highly stretchable photodetector with maintained performance.
- To investigate the role of perovskite microwires and graphene in device performance under strain.
- To evaluate the stability and photoresponse characteristics of the stretchable photodetector.
Main Methods:
- Fabrication of a stretchable photodetector using prestrained VHB substrate coated with perovskite CH3NH3PbI3 microwires and graphene.
- Synthesis of CH3NH3PbI3 microwires from bulk single crystals.
- Characterization of device performance, including responsivity and photoresponse, under various strain levels and laser illumination.
Main Results:
- The stretchable photodetector achieved a responsivity of 2.2 mA W-1 under low bias and irradiance.
- Responsivity was maintained at 0.96, 0.60, and 0.21 mA W-1 at 30%, 50%, and 80% strain, respectively.
- The device exhibited a fast photoresponse (<0.12 s) even after 100% stretching and demonstrated good stability over 100 stretching cycles.
Conclusions:
- The developed stretchable photodetector demonstrates excellent mechanical flexibility and robust optoelectronic performance.
- The integration of perovskite microwires and graphene is effective for achieving high-performance stretchable photodetectors.
- This work paves the way for novel applications in wearable and flexible electronic systems.
