Antiphospholipid antibody syndrome - A case report.

Background:

• Anti-phospholipid antibody (APLA) syndrome is characterized by thrombotic events and pregnancy complications due to elevated APLA titers.

Observation:

• A 34-year-old female presented with cerebral venous thrombosis and deep vein thrombosis of the left leg.
• Laboratory results confirmed elevated levels of IgG, IgM, and activated protein C anti-phospholipid antibodies.
• No evidence of other autoimmune or systemic diseases was found.

Findings:

• The patient received Ayurvedic treatment, including Ruksha Tikshna Virechana (purgation) with Haritaki (Terminalia chebula) and Goarka (cow's urine extract).
• This treatment was administered based on the concept of Kaphaja Shotha (nonpitting edema).
• Significant improvements were observed in both subjective and objective parameters following the treatment.

Implications:

• This case suggests the potential efficacy of integrated Ayurvedic therapies in managing complex cases of APLA syndrome.
• Further research into Ayurvedic interventions for APLA syndrome could offer alternative or complementary treatment strategies.
