[A long-term survivor of small cell lung cancer]

A 60-year-old man with small cell lung cancer who has been alive seven years in good condition after the combined therapy with radiation and anticancerous drugs, is presented. Chest X-ray examinations revealed the right middle lobe atelectasis and lymph node enlargement of the right hilum. Small cell carcinoma (oat cell type) was diagnosed by cytological examinations of the sputum. The patient was given 42 Gy of telecobalt, one course of METT as chemotherapy and PSK (3.0 g X 52) and BCG-CWS (300 micrograms X 29) as immunotherapy.
