Insights
This study analyzed risk factors for blood-borne infectious diseases like HIV-AIDS, Hepatitis B, and Hepatitis C among individuals with a history of imprisonment and injecting drug use. Findings highlight disease prevalence related to duration of incarceration and IDU status.
Area of Science:
- Public Health
- Epidemiology
- Infectious Diseases
Background:
- Injecting drug use (IDUs) and imprisonment are significant risk factors for blood-borne infectious diseases.
- Prevalence of HIV-AIDS, Hepatitis B Virus (HBV), and Hepatitis C Virus (HCV) requires ongoing monitoring in vulnerable populations.
Purpose of the Study:
- To analyze the relationship between years of imprisonment and Injecting Drug Users (IDUs) status with the prevalence of HIV-AIDS, HBV, and HCV.
- To provide data for targeted public health interventions in rehabilitation centers.
Main Methods:
- Data collected from a rehabilitation center in Ahwaz, Iran (end-2017).
- Analysis based on two predictors: years of imprisonment and IDU status.
- Statistical analysis included ROC curves, scatter graphs, and data tables detailing false positive fractions (FPF) and true positive fractions (TPF).
Main Results:
- Data classified into six sections based on predictor variables.
- Detailed tables and graphs illustrating disease prediction fractions and ROC curves were generated.
- The dataset is publicly available for further research.
Conclusions:
- The study provides a data-driven assessment of infectious disease risks associated with imprisonment and IDU.
- Findings can inform prevention and treatment strategies for HIV-AIDS, HBV, and HCV in similar settings.
- Further research utilizing this dataset is encouraged.
Abstract:
Presented data was gathered from a local rehabilitation & caring center in Ahwaz city, southwest Iran end-2017. Data was classified in the six sections upon two predictors i.e. years of imprisonments and Injecting Drug Users (IDUs) to predict three blood infectious diseases i.e. HIV-Aids, Hepatitis B Virus (HBV), & Hepatitis C Virus (HCV). Each section jointly includes the following: tables of raw data, input data concerning false & true positive fractions (18 tables), scatter graph concerning false positive fractions (FPF) & true positive fractions (TPF) (6 graphs), and six ROC curves. The full access to data set is available at Mendeley data repository via doi:10.17632/6s9yzm7hr7.1.
