GlycoStore is a new database for glycan analysis, offering over 850 unique structures and 8500 retention positions from multiple analytical techniques. This resource supports detailed glycan analysis in glycoproteins and biotherapeutics.
Area of Science:
- Glycomics
- Biochemistry
- Analytical Chemistry
Background:
- Glycan analysis is crucial for understanding glycoproteins, glycolipids, and biotherapeutics.
- Existing databases like GlycoBase have limitations in data scope and modeling.
- Publicly available experimental datasets are fragmented and require curation.
Purpose of the Study:
- To develop and present GlycoStore, a comprehensive database for glycan structure and retention data.
- To enhance features and address limitations of previous glycan resources.
- To support and underpin current glycan analysis workflows.
Main Methods:
- Curated collection of chromatographic, electrophoretic, and mass-spectrometry data.
- Integration of public datasets from GlycoBase and new data from BTI, Macquarie University, and Ludger Ltd.
- Data acquisition using hydrophilic interaction chromatography (HILIC) U/HPLC, reversed-phase (RP)-U/HPLC, porous graphitized carbon (PGC) chromatography with ESI-MS/MS, and capillary electrophoresis with laser-induced fluorescence (CE-LIF).
Main Results:
- GlycoStore provides access to approximately 850 unique glycan structures.
- Over 8500 retention positions are documented across various analytical methods.
- The database integrates data from multiple sources, enhancing previous resources.
Conclusions:
- GlycoStore is a valuable, regularly updated resource for detailed glycan analysis.
- It consolidates diverse analytical data, improving accessibility and utility for researchers.
- The database supports current workflows in glycomics and biopharmaceutical analysis.
