Operating room nurses' perception of professional values.

Understanding operating room nurses' perceptions is vital.

Purpose of the Study:

To investigate operating room nurses' perceptions of professional values.
To assess the status of professional values in the operating room environment.

Surveyed 513 operating room nurses and nurse anesthetists from six university hospitals.

Participants showed a positive perception of nursing professional values (mean score 100.84 ± 15.685).
Justice was perceived as the most important value domain, activism the least.
No significant correlation found between scores and age, experience, major, or ethics workshop attendance.
Significant difference noted in scores between female and male staff.

Conclusions:

Operating room staff's awareness of professional values is essential for principle-based patient care.
Programs are needed to enhance operating room nurses' awareness and professional performance.
Findings highlight the importance of professional values in surgical settings.
