Characteristics of Practical Op Amps01:16

Characteristics of Practical Op Amps

870
A difference amplifier, a crucial component in numerous electronic devices, ideally amplifies only the difference-mode signal, which is the difference between two input signals. However, in practical circuits, the output voltage depends on both the differential gain and the common-mode gain.
The ratio of differential gain to the common-mode gain is defined as the common-mode rejection ratio (CMRR). This ratio quantifies the ability of operational amplifiers (op-amps) to reject common-mode...

Theoretical Foundations of Nursing Practice01:30

Theoretical Foundations of Nursing Practice

17.6K
Theories play an essential role in organizing patient care. Theories refer to a proposed or followed belief, policy, or procedure that is the basis for action. Nursing theories are knowledge-based concepts that guide nurses' actions, influence nursing education and practice, and allow nurses to care for their patients.
Theories provide a perspective to assess patients' conditions and organize data and methods. They also assist in analyzing and interpreting information. They represent a...

Equivalent Circuits for Practical Transformers01:28

Equivalent Circuits for Practical Transformers

1.4K
The practical equivalent circuits of single-phase two-winding transformers exhibit significant deviations from their idealized versions due to the inherent properties of winding resistance and finite core permeability. These properties result in real and reactive power losses, affecting the transformer's performance. Understanding these deviations is crucial for designing more efficient transformers.
In a practical transformer, each winding exhibits resistance and leakage reactance. The...

Molecular Models

43.8K
Physical models representing molecular architectures of chemical compounds play essential roles in understanding chemistry. The use of molecular models makes it easier to visualize the structures and shapes of atoms and molecules.

The Bohr Model02:18

The Bohr Model

81.0K
Following the work of Ernest Rutherford and his colleagues in the early twentieth century, the picture of atoms consisting of tiny dense nuclei surrounded by lighter and even tinier electrons continually moving about the nucleus was well established. This picture was called the planetary model since it pictured the atom as a miniature “solar system” with the electrons orbiting the nucleus like planets orbiting the sun. The simplest atom is hydrogen, consisting of a single proton as the...

Stereotype Content Model02:16

Stereotype Content Model

15.5K
The Stereotype Content Model (SCM) was first proposed by Susan Fiske and her colleagues (Fiske, Cuddy, Glick & Xu, 2002; see also Fiske, 2012 and Fiske, 2017). The SCM specifies that when someone encounters a new group, they will stereotype them based on two metrics: warmth—or that group’s perceived intent, and how likely they are to provide help or inflict harm—and competence—or their ability to carry out that objective. Depending on the warmth-competence...

    Summary

Histopathology training in Nigeria suffers from insufficient surgical material exposure. Implementing a regional laboratory system can enhance training quality and expertise in surgical pathology.

    Area of Science:

    • Medical Science
    • Pathology
    • Histopathology Training

    Background:

    • Nigerian histopathology practice faces challenges including poor funding and inadequate surgical pathology material exposure.
    • Despite an increase in training centers and interested graduates, busiest labs handle only 2200-5500 samples annually, limiting pathologist experience.

    Purpose of the Study:

    • To critically examine factors affecting histopathology practice and training in Nigeria.
    • To propose practical solutions for advancing the discipline.

    Main Methods:

    • Review based on authors' experience and observations of histopathology practice in Nigeria.

    Main Results:

    • Limited exposure to surgical pathology materials for trainees and trainers.

  • Over-reliance on basic staining techniques (hematoxylin-eosin) and lack of standardized reporting formats for diseases.
  • Conclusions:

    • A deanery or regional system of accredited histopathology laboratories is proposed to improve service quality and training.
    • This system aims to develop local expertise and ensure adequate exposure to teaching aids and surgical materials.
