Blinding is a commonly used method of not telling participants which treatment a subject is receiving. Blinding is a critical part of a randomized control trial or RCT. It reduces the bias that affects the results. In an RCT, blinding is used in the form of a placebo.   • A 78-year-old male presented with syncope due to intermittent sinus bradycardia and left bundle branch block (LBBB).
  • His baseline ECG showed a QRS width of 160 ms, and echocardiogram revealed a left ventricular ejection fraction of 45%.

Observation:

  • The patient underwent pacemaker insertion due to symptomatic sinus node dysfunction and a diseased left bundle.
  • Electrode placement was confirmed via fluoroscopy.

Findings:

  • Post-pacemaker implantation, the patient's QRS width normalized to 80 ms.
  • Device check confirmed excellent function.

Implications:

  • His bundle pacing effectively corrected the conduction abnormalities.
  • This case highlights His bundle pacing as an effective therapy for patients with bradycardia and LBBB.
  • Successful His bundle pacing can improve ventricular synchrony and cardiac function.
