Background:

Purpose of the Study:

  • To develop a Thai EQ-5D-5L value set reflecting the preferences of the Thai population.
  • To support health technology assessment and policy-making in Thailand.

Main Methods:

  • Recruited 1,207 participants using stratified multi-stage quota sampling.
  • Employed face-to-face, computer-assisted interviews with EuroQol Valuation Technology (EQ-VT).
  • Utilized composite time trade-off (cTTO) and discrete choice experiment (DCE) for preference elicitation, analyzed with a hybrid regression model.

Main Results:

  • Participant characteristics mirrored the general Thai population.
  • Generated logically consistent coefficients from the hybrid model.
  • The best and worst health states (11121 and 55555) received values of 0.9436 and -0.4212, respectively. Mobility significantly impacted utility.

Conclusions:

  • A Thai EQ-5D-5L value set was successfully developed using a hybrid model.
  • This value set is vital for informing health technology assessment and policy decisions in Thailand.
  • Promotes the use of EQ-5D-5L in diverse health research within Thailand.
