    Area of Science:

    • Gynecologic Oncology
    • Pathology

    Background:

    • Malignant mixed mesodermal tumors (MMMTs) are rare ovarian neoplasms.
    • Primary ovarian MMMTs arising de novo are exceptionally uncommon, particularly in post-menopausal women.

    Observation:

    • A case report details a primary ovarian MMMT in a post-menopausal, multiparous female.
    • The tumor exhibited carcinosarcomatous components with heterologous elements, including cartilage and adipose tissue.

    Findings:

    • The patient underwent surgical resection followed by single-agent chemotherapy.
    • Post-operative follow-up indicated the patient was alive and well, suggesting potential treatment efficacy.

    Implications:

    • The rarity of ovarian MMMTs presents challenges in establishing optimal treatment protocols.
