Localized Structural Alterations Underlying a Subset of Unexplained Sudden Cardiac Death

Sudden cardiac death in young people is often unexplained. This study found localized structural changes or Purkinje fiber issues in survivors of ventricular fibrillation (VF), offering new insights into causes.

- Localized structural alterations are a significant cause of previously unexplained SCD.
- Purkinje electrical pathology appears to be a dominant mechanism in a subset of these patients.
