    Area of Science:

    • Ophthalmology
    • Neurology
    • Infectious Diseases

    Background:

    • Herpes zoster ophthalmicus involves the trigeminal nerve's ophthalmic division.
    • This condition can lead to serious ocular complications.

    Observation:

    • A 70-year-old male patient presented with herpes zoster ophthalmicus.
    • He developed a rare complication: a conjunctival ulcer.

    Findings:

    • The conjunctival ulceration is a rare manifestation of herpes zoster ophthalmicus.
    • Ischemic vasculitis is proposed as the underlying cause of the ulceration.

    Implications:

    • Understanding this rare complication is crucial for ophthalmologists and neurologists.
    • Early recognition and management of ischemic vasculitis may prevent severe ocular damage.
