  • To examine the interaction between RF and attachment insecurity (dismissal, preoccupation) in children.
  • To explore how RF influences cardiovascular responses during attachment-related stress.

  • Assessed children's (N=76, ages 8-12) cardiovascular responses (respiratory sinus arrhythmia - RSA) to attachment-related stressors.
  • Coded children's attachment insecurity (dismissal, preoccupation) and RF from semi-structured attachment interviews.
  • Analyzed the relationship between RF, attachment insecurity, and RSA during stress and recovery.

  • Higher RF was associated with reduced cardiovascular reactivity (higher RSA) during stress.
