Summary

Bilateral vestibular hypofunction (BVH) patients show significant deficits in balance and vision. Vestibular evoked myogenic potentials and other tests reveal residual function, with anterior canal function being less affected.

  • Understanding the functional impact of BVH on dynamic visual acuity (DVA) and fall risk is crucial.

Purpose of the Study:

  • To comprehensively assess vestibular function across various stimulation ranges in BVH patients.
  • To evaluate the functional consequences of BVH, including dynamic visual acuity (DVA) and quality of life.

Main Methods:

  • Prospective study of 20 chronic BVH patients.
  • Utilized rotatory chair, caloric stimulation, video head impulse testing (vHIT), and Vestibular Evoked Myogenic Potentials (VEMPs).
  • Assessed symptoms, quality of life, and dynamic visual acuity (DVA).
