Bi-allelic mutations in the calcium- and integrin-binding protein 1 (CIB1) gene cause epidermodysplasia verruciformis (EV). CIB1 interacts with EVER1/2 proteins, impacting keratinocyte immune response to human β-papillomaviruses (β-HPVs).
