Quantitative analysis of nuclear area (NA) in lung squamous cell carcinoma (SCC) shows larger tumor cell nuclei compared to normal cells. This finding aids in differentiating SCC from non-malignant conditions in cytologic specimens.

- Receiver operating characteristic (ROC) analysis indicated an NA cutoff of 86 μm² achieved 75% sensitivity and 88% specificity for detecting malignancy.
Conclusions:
- Quantitative NA analysis in cytologic specimens is valuable for differentiating lung SCC from non-malignant conditions.
- NA serves as a useful parameter in the differential diagnosis of lung SCC.
