Elevated extracellular trap formation and contact system activation in acute leukemia

Leukemic cells release nuclear extracellular traps that activate the coagulation contact system. Acute leukemia patients showed high levels of these traps and factor XIIa, suggesting a link between extracellular traps and coagulation abnormalities.
