- A 40-year-old female presented with inguinal pain and a palpable mass four years after bilateral total hip arthroplasty.
- Radiography confirmed medial migration of a fractured cerclage cable from the right hip trochanteric fixation.
Findings:
- The migrated cable fragment followed a path medial to the adductor muscles, posterior to the femoral neurovascular bundle, and anterior to the sciatic nerve.
- Surgical extraction of both the migrated and remaining cerclage cable parts was performed.
Implications:
- Sharp broken cerclage cables pose a risk of distant migration and serious complications.
- Extraction of migrated cerclage cables may be necessary, especially when neurovascular structures are involved.
