Background:

Digital libraries are crucial information resources.
Evaluating their effectiveness is essential for improvement.

Purpose of the Study:

To systematically review and analyze models and methods for digital library evaluation.
To identify trends and gaps in digital library research.

Main Methods:

A systematic literature search was conducted across multiple databases (e.g., Web of Science, Scopus, ProQuest).
Inclusion criteria focused on full-text articles and dissertations in English and Persian (2004-2017).
64 selected articles were analyzed through group discussions.

Main Results:

Digital library evaluations predominantly focus on service quality.
The DigiQual model was the most frequently employed evaluation model.
Researcher-developed questionnaires are the most common evaluation method.
A significant gap exists in the evaluation of health sector digital libraries.

Conclusions:

The current evaluation landscape for digital libraries is heavily skewed towards service quality.
There is a critical need for developing specialized evaluation models for health digital libraries.
Librarians and designers should prioritize the unique aspects of health digital libraries.
