  • Epithelioid hemangioendothelioma (HHE) is a rare mesenchymal neoplasm of vascular origin.
  • It exhibits an epithelial-like appearance and can mimic angiosarcoma.
  • The prognosis of HHE is variable and often unpredictable.

Observation:

  • A 72-year-old male presented with inflammatory pain in the left lower limb.
  • Radiographic imaging revealed multiple osteolytic lesions in the knee, tibia, medial malleolus, and calcaneus.
  • Histological examination confirmed the diagnosis of HHE.

Findings:

  • The patient received taxol chemotherapy.
  • Despite treatment, the patient succumbed to the disease within 5 months.
  • This case illustrates an aggressive clinical course of HHE.

Implications:

  • There is a lack of standardized therapeutic guidelines for HHE.
  • Further research is needed to establish effective treatment strategies for this rare cancer.
  • Improved understanding of HHE pathogenesis may lead to better prognostic markers and targeted therapies.
