Abstract:
There was an error in the original article. In the last paragraph of the Case Report section, the sentence "One month later, two plasma exchanges were followed by only slight improvements in upper-limb motor function (Fig. 1)." should have been "One month later, four plasma exchanges were followed.
Insights
An error correction in a case report indicates that four plasma exchanges, not two, led to slight improvements in upper-limb motor function for a patient. This highlights the potential impact of treatment intensity on neurological recovery.
Area of Science:
- Neurology
- Clinical Medicine
- Medical Error Correction
Context:
- Correction of a published clinical case report.
- Addresses a specific sentence in the Case Report section regarding treatment efficacy.
- Focuses on the impact of plasma exchange therapy.
Purpose:
- To correct a factual error in the scientific literature.
- To accurately represent the patient's treatment outcome.
- To ensure the reliability of published medical data.
Summary:
- The original article incorrectly stated two plasma exchanges were administered.
- The corrected text clarifies that four plasma exchanges were performed.
- This change impacts the interpretation of treatment effectiveness for upper-limb motor function.
Impact:
- Ensures accurate reporting of clinical trial data.
- Prevents misinterpretation of treatment efficacy in similar neurological conditions.
- Maintains the integrity of scientific records for future research and clinical practice.
