Abstract:
Treatment of vitamin D deficiency in adults requires adequate diagnosis based on the rigorous definition of the disease. Recently, it has been reported that assessment criteria for vitamin D deficiency/insufficiency in Japan proposed by an expert panel. However, it is not yet certain whether supplementation of vitamin D as a nutrient to patients with diseases due to vitamin D deficiency per se is sufficient and appropriate if they are judged to be vitamin D deficient.
