Gene families consist of groups of genes proposed to have originated from a common ancestor. Typically these arise through events in which a gene or genes are mistakenly duplicated during cell division. Unlike their parent genes (which are subject to selection pressure to maintain function), these gene copies do not need to preserve their sequences and may evolve at a relatively faster rate.

Gain and phase shift are properties of linear circuits that describe the effect a circuit has on a sinusoidal input voltage or current. Background:

Historically, small business workers and self-employed individuals face significant barriers to obtaining health insurance.
The stability and affordability of health insurance for these populations remain critical public health concerns.

Purpose of the Study:

To analyze trends in health insurance coverage for workers at small firms and the self-employed over the past decade.
To identify the extent of uninsurance among these populations, with a focus on income disparities.

Main Methods:

Utilized data from the Medical Expenditure Panel Survey (MEPS) for comprehensive analysis.
Examined changes in uninsurance rates over a ten-year period, specifically up to 2014-15.

Main Results:

The overall uninsurance rate for small firm workers and the self-employed decreased by 5 percentage points.
Despite the decline, approximately one-third of lower-income individuals within these groups remained uninsured in 2014-15.

Conclusions:

While progress has been made in expanding health insurance, significant coverage gaps persist for vulnerable populations.
Targeted interventions may be necessary to address the persistent uninsurance among lower-income small business employees and the self-employed.
