Introducing LiF or PbF2 layers between SnO2 and perovskite in solar cells significantly boosts performance. This passivation reduces charge recombination, enhancing both open-circuit voltage (Voc) and short-circuit current (Jsc) for high-efficiency perovskite solar cells.
Area of Science:
- Materials Science
- Renewable Energy
- Semiconductor Physics
Background:
- Trap states at the perovskite/charge-transport layer interface critically impact perovskite solar cell (PSC) efficiency.
- Understanding and mitigating these interfacial defects is crucial for advancing PSC technology.
Purpose of the Study:
- To investigate the effect of introducing LiF or PbF2 thin layers at the SnO2/perovskite interface.
- To improve charge collection and reduce interfacial recombination in MAPbI3-xClx perovskite solar cells.
Main Methods:
- Fabrication of MAPbI3-xClx perovskite solar cells with an inserted LiF or PbF2 interfacial layer.
- Characterization of device performance, focusing on open-circuit voltage (Voc) and short-circuit current (Jsc).
- Analysis of interfacial properties to understand charge dynamics and recombination mechanisms.
Main Results:
- Demonstration of high-efficiency MAPbI3-xClx perovskite solar cells.
- Significant improvements in both open-circuit voltage (Voc) and short-circuit current (Jsc) were observed.
- Reduced interfacial charge recombination and enhanced charge collection were achieved by the LiF/PbF2 passivation layers.
Conclusions:
- Interfacial passivation using LiF or PbF2 is an effective strategy for fabricating high-performance perovskite solar cells.
- This approach offers a new pathway to achieve perovskite solar cells with large open-circuit voltage (Voc).
- The findings highlight the importance of interface engineering in optimizing PSCs.
