[The role of Vavilov-Cherenkov radiation in visual sensations induced by protons]

The sensitivity of human eyes to ionizing particles and the mechanism of their detection were studied. The experimental data obtained by protons with very different intensity of Cherenkov radiation in the vitreous humour (460 and 1850 MeV) showed that Cherenkov radiation plays an essential role in the visual sensation.
