    Summary

    Non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs) cause gastrointestinal damage, even with current protective drugs. Hydrogen sulfide (H₂S)-releasing NSAIDs offer a promising solution with enhanced safety and efficacy.

    Background:

    • Non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs) cause significant gastrointestinal (GI) adverse effects, persisting despite advances in selective cyclo-oxygenase-2 (COX-2) inhibitors and acid secretion blockers.
    • Current protective strategies, like combined use of antisecretory drugs and COX-2 inhibitors, paradoxically increase small intestine and colon injury and disrupt microbiota balance.
    • NSAID-induced enteropathy lacks effective preventative or curative treatments.

    Purpose of the Study:
