Behavioral imprinting is observed in some newborn animals and occurs when they develop strong and specific attachments to another animal (usually a parent) following brief, early-life exposures. Offspring imprint onto parents within a brief period after birth or hatching; this time window is called the critical period. Its active form, retinoic acid (RA), influences gene transcription via nuclear receptors.
Lipocalins are implicated in RA bioavailability and immune modulation, particularly against Th2 responses.

To review the influence of vitamin A on allergic diseases in humans.
To explore the role of vitamin A in immune homeostasis and inflammatory pathways.
