  • To develop and validate a reliable scale to measure the role competency of oncology nurses in the shared decision-making process.
  • To identify key dimensions of SDM competency among oncology nurses.

  • A 22-item scale was developed and administered to 226 oncology nurses via online or mail surveys.
  • Exploratory factor analysis and parallel analysis were used to determine the scale's structure.
  • Reliability was assessed using Cronbach's alpha and Spearman-Brown's correlation coefficients.

  • Factor analysis identified four dimensions of SDM competency: knowledge, attitudes, communication, and adaptability.
  • The 22-item scale demonstrated excellent internal consistency (Cronbach's alpha = 0.91).
  • Subscales showed adequate reliability (Cronbach's alpha >0.70) and split-half reliability (>0.70).

Conclusions:
