  • To determine the percentage of patients diagnosed with idiopathic, noninfectious uveitis who have an identifiable underlying cause.
  • To assess the impact of referral to a tertiary center on uveitis diagnosis.

  • Retrospective analysis of 179 patients diagnosed with idiopathic uveitis between 2008 and 2016.
  • Evaluation included comprehensive history, ophthalmic examination, and targeted laboratory testing.
  • Standardization of Uveitis Nomenclature (SUN) criteria were applied.

  • 29% (52/179) of patients initially diagnosed with idiopathic uveitis were found to have an identifiable cause.

  • Despite advancements, idiopathic uveitis remains a frequent diagnosis, highlighting the need for thorough evaluation.
